Day 1 - Saturday 21 February

Reformer
Room

  • Stretching is more than just holding a position. In this workshop, Renee shows you how to transform stretch classes into functional, adaptable, and engaging sessions that deliver real results. Learn how to layer and modify stretches for different bodies, how to integrate movement for greater effectiveness, and how to cue so clients truly feel—and keep—the benefits.

Adaptive Stretch
with Renee Hambly

7.30-8.30am

9.00 - 11.00am

  • This interactive workshop is designed to sharpen your observation skills—not to judge what’s right or wrong, but to notice what’s different. We’ll begin by exploring the most common postural patterns and movement habits we see in the studio every day. From there, we’ll shift our focus to watching real people moving through their daily lives—on video footage that reveals the subtle (and not-so-subtle) ways bodies function outside the studio.

Then, we’ll bring it back to the Pilates environment. You’ll observe groups of teachers moving on the Reformer, studying not just posture and alignment, but also the unique ways individuals interpret movement cues. This session is about training your eye to see difference—not to correct immediately, but to notice.  We will also focus on “training your eye” to spot pitfalls of the equipment set up.  This is the most common cause of accidents in a pilates studio.

Perfect for teachers of all levels, this workshop will expand your ability to see movement with clarity, curiosity, and nuance.

How Well Trained Is Your Eye?
with Maria Leone

Morning Tea

  • If we want our clients to get truly stronger, we first need to understand the exercise science protocols of strength training. From there, we’ll explore why and how to integrate these concepts into our Reformer classes, complementing the Pilates flows our clients already know and love. Leave this workshop feeling inspired, confident, and ready to apply practical strategies that support your clients’ long-term health.

Experience Reformer Yin
with Sam Sales

5.00 - 6.00pm

  • Reformer Yin is a unique practice that emmeshes the deep, meditative principles of Yin Yoga, entangled with the modern science of the fascia world all resting upon the support and adaptability of the Reformer bed. Far beyond passive stretching, this method invites a different lense in which to see the body—not as isolated muscles and stacked bones, but as a dynamic, interconnected system of fascia, fluidity, and felt sense.

Drawing on embodied anatomy, somatics, and tensegrity principles, we explore how bones float and tissues suspend, how movement arises from stillness, and how yielding creates space for deep reorganisation. Rather than forcing or pulling, this practice invites subtle listening, where the body is given time and support to unwind itself. Rooted in years of experience across yoga, pilates, and fascia research, this workshop offers a poetic and practical reimagining of how we move, sense, and restore.

What Would Joe Think?
with Maria Leone

  • In this thought-provoking session, Maria invites you to explore the method through a modern lens—honouring the brilliance of Joseph Pilates while asking, “What was missing?” Together, you’ll unpack where the original method excels, where it may fall short for today’s bodies, and how we can evolve while still respecting the roots. With a focus on intelligent integration—not replacement—you’ll learn how to identify the gaps in your own programming and expand your approach through the lens of the Bodyline™ method—rooted in classical principles, yet responsive to modern needs. We will be learning exercises that Joe did not invent that make his method that much more integral to the needs of our clients.

Rhythm and Flow
Reimagined
with Maria Leone

2.30 -4.00pm

  • “Correctly executed and mastered to the point of subconscious reaction, these exercises will reflect grace and balance in your routine activities.” – Joseph Pilates

“Contrology will help you acquire that natural rhythm and co ordination associated with all subconscious activities.” – Joseph Pilates

“You must always do Pilates with rhythm and control.  The rhythm keep it flowing and gives life to the movement.”- Romana Krysanowska

“Pilates has a dance-like quality.  It’s meant to move, not be mechanical.”- Kathy Grant

Discover the power of rhythm and flow in this dynamic two-hour workshop that bridges the roots of Pilates with contemporary creativity.

We’ll begin by tracing rhythm back to its origins in Joe Pilates’ original work, exploring traditional exercises performed with his intended tempo and control. You’ll experience the natural pace and cadence built into the classical method and learn why rhythm was considered essential for grace, coordination, and mastery.

Next, we’ll shift into building short flows on the Reformer—seamlessly blending traditional and contemporary exercises to create purposeful, progressive sequences. You’ll gain tools for designing workouts that suit both your teaching style and your clients’ needs, whether you favor precision, artistry, or athleticism.

We’ll conclude by stepping beyond the traditional Pilates framework, performing an expressive flow to music. This closing movement sequence becomes a playful, artistic exploration—part Pilates, part dance—inviting you to experience the joy of pure movement.

This workshop celebrates both the old and the new, empowering you to honor tradition while making it your own.
