SEAN BERGARA PILATES

After a serious skiing accident in 1991 left him with chronic pain, Sean Bergara began a years-long search for effective, lasting relief. Initially certified as a personal trainer, he found traditional fitness approaches only worsened his condition. In 2005, he discovered Pilates and experienced a turning point. Studying under Alicia Fajardo in Portland, Oregon, Sean learned a biomechanics-based approach that emphasized movement reeducation and spinal support. He later earned his certification through Polestar Pilates and opened Ecore Fitness in Palm Springs. Drawing from personal experience and clinical insight, Sean developed a unique method of Reformer training—building muscle strength safely without spinal compression. His work is particularly valuable for clients with injuries, and he continues to teach weekly classes, private sessions, and annual teacher workshops both in-person and online. A lifelong learner, Sean actively studies movement science to ensure his teaching stays grounded, progressive, and accessible to all.
