CEO, Polestar Pilates

PhD, PT, OCS, NCPT

Dr. Brent Anderson is a physical therapist, Pilates educator, and author of the book Principles of Movement.

With over 35 years of experience in rehabilitation and movement science, Dr. Anderson is passionate about the power that positive movement experiences have to change the world.

Early in his career as a physical therapist, he discovered the power and efficacy of Joseph Pilates’s mind-body method to expedite rehabilitation outcomes. This early testament to the effectiveness of the Pilates Method inspired him to create a program that merged the worlds of traditional rehabilitation with the mindful movement that Pilates provides. It also led to the development of Polestar’s evidence-based Pilates teacher training curriculum.

In an effort to further the evidence supporting Pilates, Dr. Anderson pursued a doctoral degree, researching the impact of Pilates rehabilitation on chronic low back pain using psycho-emotional wellness and quality-of-life measures.

Dr. Anderson is the creator and host of the Pilates Hour Webinar, featuring case studies and in-depth reviews of movement science topics with expert guests from a variety of fields. He is also the creator and host of the Live Aligned Podcast, engaging in conversations with leading voices in movement, healthcare, wellness, and education on living healthier, more intentional, and aligned lives. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in Miami, Florida, and serves as an adjunct professor in the physical therapy departments at the University of Miami, Hunter College, the University of Southern California, and New York University.

Dr. Anderson is dedicated to sharing Pilates with the world and serves as an active consultant for hospitals, universities, and wellness organizations internationally. He is also an avid public speaker, lecturing at health conferences and professional forums around the world. Deeply committed to community service, Dr. Anderson has volunteered on numerous boards within his community, profession, and faith, reflecting his lifelong desire to impact the world one person at a time.
